Do they speak English in Croatia?

The official language of Croatia is Croatian, but around 80% of the population are multilingual and a good proportion of these speak English as an additional language. The country is one of the best places in southern and eastern Europe for English speakers as a large number of locals speak very good English, particularly in the popular tourist towns and cities where British travellers frequently visit.

The currency used in Croatia is the Kuna, which is equivalent to 0.11 pounds sterling. If you’re staying on the mainland then you will be fine to use international credit and debit cards, but travellers who are island hopping and visiting the more remote areas of the Dalmation Coast will need to ensure they bring the correct currency.

What is the climate in Croatia?

Croatia has a Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers and relatively cool winters that see a fair bit of rain. For the majority of the year, the country will be pleasantly warm and sunny with some humidity between June and September, higher temperatures inland and on the coast and lower temperatures up in the mountains.

What our guests say

Fantastic home for a fantastic stay. We loved our time here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing time away. Top tips from us - don’t stress about parking, the roads are very narrow and parking isn’t easy so use the car park on the way in to Pollensa. It’s only a 5 minute walk and is very safe. There is a lovely bakery just 2 minute walk away on the main road in and not far from the chemist. Enjoy!

Great villa, comfortable beds, clean and the welcome pack was really appreciated. Good location and the pool and table tennis went down very well with everyone.

Charming and lovely townhouse in the old part of Pollenca. Recently refurbished to a very high standard. House is really well equipped. ACs in all the rooms meant it was never too hot even in the August. High walls give a lot of privacy and also make the sun more bearable. Pool was lovely. We quickly got used to parking in the side streets around the house, but it is also possible to park slightly outside the town. We used a car to go Puerto Pollenca to get to the fantastic beaches. Their Internet was good enough for video calls for work Communication with the manager was easy and quick. Would clearly recommend and also go back.

"The villa was very well presented, spotlessly clean, and surprisingly well equipped – it even had a tea-pot! The welcome pack was probably the best and most comprehensive I’ve seen!.. Pollenca is a good base if you want to have good access to the coast without being in a coastal resort."

We had a great stay and the communication with Colin was brilliant. The villa is very clean and spacious and the beds are comfortable. The pool area is fantastic and the steps in are great for children. The pool was also really warm considering it’s not heated and the view of the mountains is fantastic. Lovely quiet area but a 25 min walk into the square in Pollenca and 5 min drive to the Port. Lovely area and lots of great restaurants and beaches nearby. We were a family of 8 (7 adults and one child) and would definitely like to return :)
